Welcome to AMA DocSIG

SummerAMA Travel Grant

The AMA New Horizons Faculty Consortium will be held August 14-16, preceding the Summer AMA Conference in Boston, MA. The Consortium will explore scholarly research and industry trends impacting professional selling and sales management. Historically, the New Horizons Faculty Consortium has been held every six to seven years. The last New Horizons consortium, held in 2018, brought together 120 leading sales scholars. The event was integral in sparking research focused on timely issues for sales (e.g., AI, the digital selling transformation).

The theme for the 2024 New Horizons Faculty Consortium is The Power of People in the Digital Sales Transformation. Sessions will focus on the human aspects of the digital sales transformation and the role that salespeople and managers play in sales today.

The Baylor University Center for Professional Selling has generously supported the designation of doctoral students as Baylor Fellows for this event, providing $1,000 travel grants for doctoral students with an interest in sales research and teaching to attend the Consortium. Selected students must register for the event at the $50 doctoral student cost, and then they will receive a travel grant disbursed to them through AMA.

The application deadline is June 15th. Recipients will be notified by July 1 of decisions in order to make their travel arrangements. Links are below for event registration and grant application.

To be eligible, you must:

* be actively enrolled in a doctoral program
* be engaged in or interested in pursuing sales research and teaching
* attend the New Horizons event in Boston, MA, August 14-16

DocSIG Scholarly Insights!

January 2024 call for blog posts!
For those unaware of this initiative, the AMA DocSIG Scholarly Insights works with the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR) and recruits doctoral students to interview the authors of recent publications. Doctoral students have a unique opportunity to connect with top researchers in the field of marketing, gather deeper insights into recently published articles, and prepare a summary article of their findings. Previous blog posts are available here.

If you are interested in any of the articles and want to write a blog post, please write your name next to the article in the Google Sheet here. You can either sign up on your own and another person will sign up to become your partner OR if you have a colleague with whom you would like to work, feel free to recruit them to work with you.

We look forward to working with you and wish everyone a great day!

Feel free to contact us with questions at Sameed_Khan@uml.edu or dko005@email.latech.edu.

2023 Who Went Where Report

The 2023 WWW survey results are now available in the 2023 WWW Final Report. For the past 21 years,
AMA DocSIG has conducted surveys on doctoral students in the job-seeking stage, providing insights
into the job market. Reports from 2003 to 2021 can be downloaded here.

Despite the pandemic’s impact on the job market from 2019 to 2021, we encouraged students to share
their job search experiences, resulting in variations in the 2020-2021 report compared to previous ones.
Our survey had two parts: Part 1 collected basic information, including the candidate’s name and
institutions, while Part 2 anonymously gathered data on job market experiences, teaching, publications,
and salary.

We promoted survey participation through AMA DocSIG and ELMAR listservs, as well as social media
platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. If your school wasn’t contacted, please provide your marketing
department doctoral program coordinator’s contact information to Reza Pedarpour,
rpedarpo@kent.edu.

Md Fourkan and Reza Pedarpour from Kent State University designed and administered the surveys,
with input from our volunteer review team to continually enhance the Who Went Where (WWW)
survey and report.

Congratulations to the new Assistant Professors of Fall 2023! The highly anticipated Who Went Where
report is proudly presented by AMA DocSIG.
