DocSIG is pleased to offer four exciting opportunities in Orlando:
Annual DocSIG Pre-Conference Symposium
Friday, February 21, 2014, 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
The theme of this year’s symposium is “What I Wish I Had Known as a Young Scholar” and will feature 12 distinguished scholars who will speak on a variety of topics:
- Starting the dissertation
- Defending the proposal and final dissertation
- Applying for jobs
- Summer AMA and campus interviews
- Surviving the first year at the first job
- Applying for tenure
New this year: DocSIG is teaming up with TechSIG for a joint session. Members will enjoy networking while playing a game focused on what makes academic research “catch on.” You won’t want to miss this fun and unique opportunity to meet new people and to brainstorm about what makes research go viral!
Seating is limited, so please RSVP as early as possible. To register, doctoral students can call the American Marketing Association at 1.800.262.1150 and include registration for the symposium with their conference registration. The symposium registration fee is just $45 and includes breakfast and lunch at the event.
DocSIG/Ph.D. Project Dinner Social

DocSIG strives to increase students’ exposure to a variety of opportunities, and will participate in a very special one for our dinner social this year. Sales SIG is hosting a dinner event at the Orlando Dave & Buster’s, including a fajita bar, tea, soft drinks, and a game card for enjoying Dave & Buster’s activities. A full cash bar will also be available. Sales SIG has generously offered to cover the cost of this event for the DocSIG and Ph.D. Project members who RSVP’d to attend our dinner social.

DocSIG’s Annual Mentor Networking Breakfast

In addition to free breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other doctoral students from across the country as well as learn from hand-picked faculty about topics important to you, your research, and careers. It will be a great event!
*Note: This event is for marketing doctoral students and invited faculty. The event is free, but attendance is limited to 35 students due to space. If you come to the event without registration, you’ll be asked to wait while registered attendees are accommodated first; a waitlist seat can’t be guaranteed. This event reached capacity at Winter AMA 2013, so please register early. No paper ticket necessary.
