Are you gearing up for the 2025-26 rookie job market? Join us for a panel session with four scholars who have extensively served on hiring committees (Sandy Jap, Kelly D. Martin, Brady Hodges, and John Hulland) and four junior scholars who have recently been or are currently on the job market (Barbara Duffek, Melanie Moore Kooskie, Kevin Giang Barrera, and Ethan Milne.
The session is designed to provide doctoral students preparing for the academic job market with practical guidance and informed perspectives. We aim to foster an open discussion on the hiring process, from evaluating application materials to conducting interviews and making final hiring decisions. Our goal is to give doctoral students an idea of how to best prepare within their abilities and preferences for the 25-26 hiring cycle.

2025 WinterAMA Special Session: “Exploring Collaborative Lab Research” with DocSIG and the T.R.A.P Lab

Feeling stuck? Research in a rut? Lost for good ideas? Break out of the box!
Join DOCSIG and the TRAP lab at Winter AMA for “Breaking Barriers: Exploring Collaborative Lab Research.” A collaborative session fusing improv, brainstorming, and merriment to help you discover your next great research idea.
This special session, co-hosted by DocSIG and the T.R.A.P. Lab, aims to introduce the concept of research labs to the doctoral student community while promoting collaboration across institutions and disciplines. DocSIG, committed to breaking down barriers between students and established scholars, collaborates with the T.R.A.P. Lab to simulate a lab meeting focused on research at the intersection of technology, race, and prejudice. The session will introduce students to the benefits of research labs, involving attendees in a collaborative research presentation and interactive idea-generation activity. Students will learn impactful tools for fostering interdisciplinary research and building collaborative networks. 2025 WinterAMA: DocSIG Mentors Breakfast

DocSIG’s esteemed Mentors Breakfast will bring together esteemed faculty and doctoral students for networking in a low-stakes environment. Meet the mentor’s below and make sure to RSVP on Whova!

In the first five minutes of the event, we will award the “2025 AMA DocSIG Mathew Joseph Mentorship Award”, our traditional recognition of one scholar whose enduring contributions to the mentorship of doctoral students have profoundly shaped marketing scholarship. This year’s recipient is Dr. Anat Keinan (Questrom School of Business, Boston University). This event is graciously sponsored by the Sheth Foundation.

Mentor’s Award Announcement

Please join DocSIG in congratulating Anat Keinan (Boston University) as the 2025 AMA DocSIG “Mathew Joseph” Mentor Award recipient! This award recognizes one scholar whose enduring contributions to the mentorship of doctoral students have profoundly shaped marketing scholarship.
Anat Keinan’s research interests include Branding, Symbolic Consumption, Consumer Well-Being, Luxury Marketing, Consumer Self-Control, Authenticity, the Consumption of Experiences, Fairness and Ethics in Marketing, and Ethical Consumption. She received her Ph.D. in Marketing, with distinction, from Columbia Business School. Professor Keinan received the Ferber Award for her research on collectable experiences, and the AMA Erin Anderson Award for Emerging Female Marketing Scholar and Mentor. Her research was selected for the New York Time Year in Ideas issue and seven of her papers were recognized as the Journal of Consumer Research best paper award finalists. Her research was selected for several JCR Research Curations including “Products as Signals,” “Meaningful Choice,” and “Behavioral Pricing.”
The award will be presented to Anat Keinan at the DocSIG Mentor’s Breakfast at the 2025 Winter Academic Conference in Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, February 15, 7 am.
