Just following up with a friendly reminder to consider the AxcessCapon Doctoral Student Teaching Consortium at the MMA Fall Educators’ Conference – this is held concurrently with the conference on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Whether you aspire for a career at a balanced or teaching institution or you want to sharpen your teaching skills as you prepare for career at an R1 school, this consortium is a great fit. The priority deadline to apply for the consortium is May 23, 2014.
The Marketing Management Association Fall Educators’ Conference will be held September 17-19, 2014 in San Antonio. This conference focuses on research and new developments in teaching marketing, again a great fit for those interested in developing teaching skills as part of a complete candidate package. Also consider submitting for the Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Doctoral Student Competition – winner receives a $1,000 cash prize as well as up to two free nights at the conference hotel and conference registration fee paid.
Full conference information including call for papers, pre-conference workshops, teacher-scholar doc student competition, and career placement service can be found on the conference website, http://www.mmaglobal.org/conferences/fall-conference/. The $120 full-time student conference registration fee (paid by August 1, 2014) includes dinner on Wed and Thurs as well as lunch on Thurs and Fri and a one-year membership to MMA (great deal). The conference hotel rate is $129 per night for single through quad occupancy (another great deal).

This quote from last year’s attendee, Rebecca Dingus (Kent State, 2014) is representative of the experience, “The MMA Doc Consortium is a valuable experience for any doctoral student. Wonderful faculty mentors, guidance and tips for success in the classroom, and even teaching demonstrations and training–this unique consortium expanded my passion for teaching.”
